iGPS vs. tracker
In the past, if your application required accurate measurements of large parts or installations, the laser tracker was practically the only instrument available. With the emergence of iGPS, the exclusive reign of the laser tracker as the large-scale metrology tool-of-choice is coming to an end.

Size matters
Metris is pushing iGPS to higher and higher levels of accuracy. Although for relatively small areas, the laser tracker still has accuracy advantages, in head-to-head comparisons measuring in areas 10x10 meters and larger, tests show that the accuracy of iGPS is competitive with laser trackers. As the measurement volume grows beyond the 10x10 meter box, iGPS overtakes the laser tracker in accuracy and precision.

A different perspective
Although not all applications require users to measure objects as big as a 10x10 meter box, line of sight obstructions can require that a measurement instrument be set up in multiple locations. Each movement of the instrument and the subsequent reorientation introduces significant errors and degrades the overall accuracy of the measurement process. The large measurement footprint and flexible configuration of iGPS requires only one set-up in most cases, thus eliminating reorientation errors. For smaller objects (e.g., automobiles), where line-of-sight is obstructed from one direction or angle, iGPS is unbeatable.

Built for the production line
Many real world production applications prevent measurement instruments from being placed too close to the production line itself. Offsets from the line often degrade accuracy and make line-of-sight extremely difficult to maintain. IGPS leverages its large measurement footprint and flexible configuration to become the practical and accurate in-line metrology tool of choice. And best of all, iGPS provides instantaneous beam reacquisition, making broken beams and trips back to the nest, a thing of the past!

Out-probing the competition
The iGPS enabled Vector Bar (V-Bar) is Metris’s powerful hand-held measurement solution. The V-Bar can be used by one or many users simultaneously for a variety of measurement and inspection tasks. In contrast to hand-held probes that require the error prone combination of laser tracker technology and real time photogrammetry systems, the V-Bar represents a single technology solution—providing users with greater ease of use and higher productivity at a much lower price.

Accuracy matters, but roi is key!
IGPS provides you with the power and flexibility to design a system to fit your specific needs and budget. Should your requirements change over time, iGPS is easily reconfigurable, preserving the value of your initial investment. Once the iGPS infrastructure is in place, an unlimited number of iGPS-enabled measurement tools and sensors can operate within the work space. Adding users is simple and extremely cost effective. Like traditional satellite based GPS, the cost per user of iGPS is simply unbeatable! In any configuration, iGPS functionality and ease-of-use combine to bring unparalleled productivity and return on investment.
